Vision

Students at Sycamore Elementary are learners and leaders who aim for their own highest level of excellence. With the help of effective and rigorous academic standards and the support of an equitable comprehensive school counseling program, all Sycamore students will enter middle school with the knowledge and skills to remain on a trajectory of college and career readiness. In collaboration with teachers, administrators, parents, and the community, students will exceed expectations in academic attainment and develop positive life skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, responsible decision making, allowing them to become empathetic world-class leaders and collaborators who make a positive difference. As a result of counseling programs at Sycamore Elementary, students will know they are valued, supported, and ready to take responsibility for their future and make a positive impact on their community and world.

Mission

The mission of the Sycamore Elementary Counseling Department is to implement a comprehensive counseling program that will address academic, career, and personal/social development enabling students to strive for excellence as independent thinkers, learners, and leaders. Programs implemented by the Sycamore Counseling Department will be informed by the unique and culturally diverse student population and work to address and/or remove barriers to student learning, thus assisting students to achieve their personal best at school and in their community by setting and achieving goals. Through collaboration with all stakeholders, each student will be prepared academically, behaviorally, emotionally, and socially to engage as world-class members of society.
